Where this came from
Margot
Mike Murphy’s wife, Margot, fought cancer for nine years. He was her caregiver for all of them. She died in 2011, and everything here follows from that.
The life before her reads like someone else’s. A restless youth and several arrests, then two decades of building — auto and commercial real estate, most of it as President and Owner of the Oakland Automotive Group. He was a self-made man in the ordinary sense of the phrase long before he was anything else.
Then came Margot, and then came the diagnosis. Nine years of treatment, and Mike beside her for all of it. What he found while she was ill was not only grief. It was that women around him were receiving less care than was available to them, for no reason other than money — that the gap between the medicine that exists and the medicine a person can actually reach is wide, and that nobody was standing in it.
In 2012 he founded the Love from Margot Foundation. Mountains of Hope came years later. The Foundation helps people reach care. This place is the care.

The Foundation came first.
Years before there was any thought of a mountain.
After Margot died in 2011, Mike founded the Love from Margot Foundation in her name — helping under-insured and low-income women facing advanced cancer with the bills, the treatment and the support that fall through the cracks.
He has personally paid for patients’ care, and commits a portion of his own income to the foundation. It ran for years on its own before Mountains of Hope existed, and it runs still. The Foundation helps people reach care. This place is the care.

Mike has written three books. This is the one about Margot — an account of nine years of illness, and of the marriage that ran underneath it. It is the closest thing there is to an answer to why this place exists.
The other two are Love Unfiltered, a Wall Street Journal best-seller about opening the heart and living on purpose, and The Creation Frequency, published by New World Library with a foreword by Jack Canfield.

The licence
Mountains of Hope holds a Colombian IPS medical facility licence. Every therapy here is delivered by, or under the direction of, our medical team. Advanced therapies are prescription-only and are decided clinically, not commercially.
We work alongside the Universidad Nacional de Colombia on therapies, and refer to specialists at Hospital San Vicente Fundación when a guest needs them.
The mountain
Nobody heals well in a corridor. The ground here is nature, silence, clean air, clean water and food grown fifty yards from the kitchen — and the healing we mean is physical, emotional and spiritual at once, because those were never separate systems.
We are not a nicer hotel with massages. We are a medical facility that happens to sit on a mountain.

The place
Ten minutes from an international airport, and completely quiet
The property sits above Rionegro in Antioquia, roughly ten minutes from José María Córdova International Airport and thirty from Medellín. That combination is unusual and it is deliberate: a guest who is unwell should not have to survive a four-hour transfer to get here.
On the land there is a main house, twelve guest suites and a presidential suite, a library, a lap pool and cold plunge, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and salt cave, a movement space, courts, a stone labyrinth, a temazcal, and a terraced organic garden that supplies the kitchen.

How we work
We do not treat diseases. We restore people.
Guests are not buying a fixed package. They are buying a protocol built from their own diagnostics.
Before a guest flies, they send us stool, blood and other samples, and our medical team analyses them. By the time they land we already know something real about their biology. On the ground there is full testing, including brain mapping, and from that the team builds a protocol drawing on the whole toolkit — conventional, functional and ancestral. As deeper testing reveals more, the protocol changes.
