Regenerative cell therapies are among the most actively researched and most loudly oversold areas in medicine. Both of those things are true at once, and a serious prospect deserves to hear the second one as well as the first.

How it is handled here

It is a prescription therapy, delivered in our clinical area by medical staff, scheduled around the rest of a guest's protocol. It follows bloodwork, a physician consultation and a review of your existing care and medication.

The decision rests with our medical director. Some guests who arrive asking for it are not prescribed it, and that decision is clinical rather than commercial.

Questions worth asking anyone

If you are researching this internationally, these are the questions that separate a medical facility from a sales operation. Ask them of us and of anyone else:

• What is the regulatory status of this therapy in the country where it is being given?
• Who prescribes it, and can I speak to them before I travel?
• What would make you decline to treat me?
• Will you talk to my own physician?
• What are you not telling me?

We will answer all five. An operation that will not answer the third one is telling you something.
