Please read. Mountains of Hope does not treat, reverse or prevent diabetes or any other diagnosed condition. If you have diabetes, your care belongs with your own physician, and nothing here replaces it or justifies changing your medication.

This post replaces an earlier one on this site whose title made promises about diabetes that no stay can keep. That was a claim we should not have made, and the honest version is below.

What we do

Comprehensive bloodwork before arrival and again on site. Food built by the medical team and grown on the property. Movement, sleep, and consistent meal timing in an environment with very few of the pressures that make those hard at home. A physician who reviews the results with you and writes down what they found.

For some guests the most useful output of a short stay is a set of numbers they had never seen, and a clear letter to take to their own doctor.

What we do not do

We do not adjust or withdraw diabetes medication, and we will not support anyone who arrives intending to stop theirs. We do not describe anything here as reversing or preventing the condition. Two weeks is two weeks; the things that change metabolic health are things you do for years, and mostly at home.

If you take insulin or a sulfonylurea, tell us before you travel. Several parts of a protocol — fasting elements, heat, cold, altered eating patterns — affect blood glucose, and they need planning around rather than discovering.

See functional nutrition, or book a consultation and bring your own physician into the conversation.
