Steam bath

A tiled steam room within the water circuit, gentler on the airways than dry heat.

The steam room is a dark tiled chamber with a built-in bench and a low band of warm light along the floor. It runs at a lower temperature than the sauna but at full humidity, which most people find easier on the airways and harder on the sense of time.

How it is used here

Part of the daily water circuit, often chosen over dry heat by guests who find the sauna too much. Sessions are shorter than they feel — set a limit before you go in.

Drink water before and after. Humid heat hides how much you are losing.

Who should take care

The same cardiovascular cautions as any heat: cardiac conditions, unstable blood pressure, pregnancy, and medications affecting heart rate or fluid balance. Humid heat can also affect some respiratory conditions differently from dry — tell your physician here if you have asthma or COPD and they will advise which of the two, if either, suits you.

Mountains of Hope holds a Colombian IPS medical facility licence, and the water circuit sits inside a protocol set by our medical team.
