The ice bath is the colder end of the same idea as the cold plunge. It is guided rather than self-directed, and it is something a protocol builds toward rather than starts with.
Never alone. Someone is present for every immersion, watching and timing, and they will call it before you would. Exposures are short and build gradually across a stay.
Breathwork is often paired with it, and that pairing is the part that makes it manageable for most people.
Cold-water immersion carries real risk: cold shock, arrhythmia, and impaired judgement about how long you have been in. Do not combine breath-holding with immersion unsupervised, anywhere, ever — that combination has killed people who were fitter than you.
Cardiac conditions, arrhythmia, uncontrolled hypertension, Raynaud's, cold urticaria, epilepsy and pregnancy are reasons a physician here will exclude it.
