Quantitative EEG mapping and neurofeedback training, delivered under the direction of our medical team.
Brain mapping is one of the diagnostics almost every guest goes through, and it is frequently the point in the fortnight where someone learns something about themselves that nobody has told them before.
A cap of sensors records electrical activity at the scalp — quantitative EEG. It is passive: nothing is delivered, nothing is stimulated, you simply sit with your eyes open and then closed while it records. It takes under an hour and produces a map of activity patterns that is reviewed with you.
The map informs the rest of the protocol. It is a diagnostic input, not a diagnosis in itself.
Neurofeedback sessions show you a representation of your own activity in real time — usually through sound or a simple visual — which shifts as the pattern shifts. It is a training process and it is gradual; a single session is not the point.
Whether it forms part of your protocol, and how many sessions, is set by the medical team from the mapping.
Neurofeedback has a real research literature and also a great deal of overstatement around it. We describe it as training rather than treatment, we make no claim about any diagnosed condition, and if you are under psychiatric care we will want to speak with your clinician before starting.
