Traditional plant medicine ceremonies, held by people who carry the lineage — on a mountain with a clinical team on site.
Read this before anything else. These are traditional ceremonial practices. They are not medical treatment, they are not offered as treatment for any condition, and they sit outside the scope of our Colombian IPS medical licence. Nothing on this page is medical advice.
If you take an SSRI, SNRI, MAOI or any antidepressant, do not attend without a full medical review. Combining these medications with ayahuasca and several other plant medicines can cause serotonin syndrome, which can be fatal. Personal or family history of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and significant cardiac conditions, are exclusions. We screen for all of this, and we say no when the answer is no.
Why here
Anyone can put the word “safe” on a website. What almost nobody offering this in South America can do is tell you what is actually in your blood before you sit down.
A guest at Mountains of Hope sends samples weeks before arrival. Our medical team reviews the bloodwork, the medication list and the history. There are doctors on the property. That is the whole difference, and it is not a marketing line — it is the reason some people who ask to attend are told they cannot.
We do not offer plant medicine as medicine. We offer the one setting where a physician has read your file before the ceremony begins.
Bloodwork, medication review, cardiac and psychiatric history — before you book a flight, not after you arrive. If something in it rules you out, you find out early and you keep your money.
Each ceremony is held by someone who carries that tradition, and we name them. If a page does not tell you who is holding the space and where they learned, treat that as the answer.
Integration is the part most places skip. You stay on the mountain, there are people to talk to, and the community access continues after you fly home.
What is held here
Each has its own screening and its own tradition-holder. None of them is a treatment. The Andean and Mesoamerican ceremonies are held by Tambores Chasqui — those link through to Ancestral Medicines.
Peyote. Wild populations are collapsing and Indigenous conservation groups have asked outsiders to stop sourcing it. Wachuma carries the same medicine, and we use that instead.
The first step
Tell us where you are and what you take. Some of these conversations end with us saying this is not for you — and that is the point of having them.
